Fat Bullet

Rarely does a surfboard get my attention and make me want to have a go at it straight away. A couple of weeks agao I went around to a mates house to pick up a couple of stand-up boards that my wife an I could borrow for a few weeks. He was about to head to Bali for 3 weeks. He showed me two boards that he had made for the trip a 6’6” and a 6’8” pair of Burton’s. what he showed me got me to thinking about how these boards would go under my feet. The model Steely had shown me were Fat Bullets. Despite the boards being pretty heavily glassed, I knew straight away I would have to have a dig. The boards had a radical nose concave, 6 channels at the tail with a quad set-up to drive it along hmmmm. Looking them up off the BASE website gave me a lot more info. Steely took the option of channels, Burton normally does a double concave. Here are a few pics of the website as well as Murray explaining everything, til I get one, I’ll keep dreaming…

http://www.youtube.com/v/zlVBBCX4D80 This links sees Murray Burton talking about the Fat Bullet. I might add a mate of mine had reported difficulties duckdiving with so much 'hull'under the nose. You'll never know if you don't go though.

A bit more swell...

Another swell has hit the sunny (yeah right) coast. Got some pics from Mooloolaba yesterday 19th Feb. Got wet at Alex for about an hour on dark. Swell was pretty raw rode my 6’4” and had some nice ones. Up for the early this morning paddled out at the Bluff (Alex for a few) right on 5. Had a few crackers in an hour and a half. The tide still had three hours to come in and at quarter to 7 the waves were rushing into the dunes. There is a full moon tomorrow (Thursday) so god knows what the beaches will look like after… Up for more tomorrow and hopefully tomorrow arvo as well. The left in front of the Alex clubhouse has been firing. The sunrise pics were from a couple of weeks ago at Mudjimba. The Friday had fired and I had some sick ones thinking the same would happen on Saturday, needless to say that didn’t happen but the sunrise was pretty good. Later Knocker

Arvo Glass off's and a bump on the head

Howzit... not too much happening. Last Friday 8th Feb saw some great waves along the coast. The swell really hit Mudjimba well and was all stoked for Saturday but by then it was pretty much all over. Will add some pics soon. Tuesday arvo a big storm pushed through the coast, staright after work off to Wurtulla which was pretty nice. Surfing the bonzer, first wave a cracker. After and hour or so pulled into a barrel that I was never going to make (but got a good view), board clipped me just above the right eye. Instant blood and a visit to the doc for a check-up (all ok though). Have not surfed since (there has not been much though). Going to see the Andy Warhol exhibition this Saturday in Brisvegas. Looking forward to that. Have been listening to the latest Jack Johnson - Sleep through the Static. Also on the iPod has been Celibate Rifles. Haven't seen them live for a while and not sure if they are still around or not but a great Aussie band with great lyrics - a shining light through the dark crap music of the eighties. Also a little something from TISM god bless their soles. Later Knocker

Weblinks

Hey there, just added some weblinks. Basically my fav websites, surfing related of course. Been getting a few waves this week, Neill Street this morning (Thursday), Mudjimba yesterday and some sick ones at Wurtulla Tuesday arvo. Looking forward to some more waves in the morning, maybe some pics? Slowly adding some more pics of the quiver. Above pic is of Neal Purchase Snr Swift Widowmaker. My 7' that does me for any large swells here on the coast. The board has its wide point just forward of centre with 6 channels. Anyone who has seen Glass Love or Believe will see the boards at work. Surfed this one in solid 10' conditions over in Chile and went really nicely. That's it for now. Later - Knocker

Bonzer board and surf...

Last week saw a few good waves at Alex on Tuesday, snapped a few pics after my session on my Bexon quad. Handles a bit of size quite well and cranks through turns with ease. The left in front of the club house was turning on a few bombs, remember that this was during a super high tide and it was still pitching top to bottom. Also a few waves yesterday at Neill Street Caloundra. Rode my twin keel fish as really high tides again and went well. Check the pic of Alex with the waves washing up to the grass at the top of the dunes. Also pics of my latest addition to the quiver a 6'2" Bonzer by Matt Keane - love the retro East Coast Surfboards Decal. Picked it up from Solace Surfshop at Mooloolaba. If you have not been into Solace yet, they have some great boards and art work available, always good for a yarn as well. Have not cracked the bonzer yet but soon. Also just picked up Believe DVD. All good and nice to see Andrew Kidman in front of the camera. The Rasta/Dick Van section is really good - check it if you can. Later Knocker

P.S. In the third pic see if you can see the guy fully slotted. Pics of my quiver to come enjoy.
